This was in my neomallers folder and has now been quarantined by my virus program.
So what now?
Do I just delete it?
Is it my computer being over-protective?
If I delete it will I miss Portal upgrades?

Are you using TrendMicro? Anyways it's a false positive. Dont need it anymore since I took it out as of Portal 8. The automatic updating system has been removed and notification of new updates are done through the main portal.exe file now

Symmantec Antivirus Corporate Edition found it today...
I have / am using Portal 8.1 -- is there another version I should be using? I have the blinking red New Version but when I click on it it tells me to come here for updates because the blah, blah was removed due to glitches. So that sounds right, right?
So is it okay to delete the file now? Will that fix the problem without messing up my portal?

Yup it's supposed to say that. And yeah, symantec is the other 'omg this is a virus. that is a virus. No this is a virus. Your brain is a virus" anti-virus program. Alot of the paid ones scare people off, otherwise no one would buy them lol

This is the only virus program that says it's a virus so I suspected as much. Thanks so much!!

Yeah no problem. Once I get a bit of time, I think I'm slowly gonna start working on converting everything to web based. Of course, it'll make use of javascript, etc but i think it's better than dealing with all the problems that come with individual computer configurations (language, operating system, installed security software, other background apps) that can possibly prevent the portal from behaving "normally"

At first I was against this idea but now I think I understand how much easier it will be for everyone (not the least of which you).
I am upgraded now to 8.5 -- hurray! I think I must have downloaded the update and forgotten to unzip it before because there was already a file there with the same name that I just replaced to be safe.

I'll keep the program version still up since that's what I'll continue to use even if the web based one comes online. Plus a program is much faster(in getting info) in my opinion, than querying a web server.

Thanks for that because that was really the only concern -- speed. I can now do things on my computer with your program when I can't connect to the internet that help me with shop keeping.
