This was on the old forums but thought it would be best to transfer it over here.

TrendMicro Anti-virus will detect the portal.exe file as a trojan however this is a false positive since it detects every program coded in Visual Basic 6 as a trojan (and every cookie as spyware) I'm currently not aware of any workaround but uninstalling it might be the only fix though you might have troubles uninstalling it too. TrendMicro protects itself from being uninstalled using some kind of a encrypted password (which by the way, is very easy to crack) so if you're having troubles getting rid of it, google it

As for anti-virus programs, go for AVG-Free. It's an anti-virus that's free (unlike trend micro) and actually works when you get a real virus. I also found that TrendMicro screws around with Nvidia's graphics driver and since you have to pay for this anti-virus that doesnt work, errr. yeah. unsure

Gonna sticky this topic.

Thank you, mean tree. It's good to hear a confirmation that AVG is a good program.

Just a quick tip if anyone is having problems with this program, if you turn off virus and spyware protection, (temporarily obviously) you will be able to download and use the portal. happy

This is coming back to haunt me

I just found out my college is requiring me to use their TrendMicro protection in order to access their wireless network, and it you get infected with a virus they supposedly can find this out and ban you from the network for 2 weeks. o-o

Are there any loopholes, or will I have to get rid of the portal? sad

Sorry I wasn't trying to say it was, but I'd rather not have to explain that's a genius VB program, I need for online gaming, that I would probably go psycho without xD

I'll look into that thanks! kiss
