Make another account I want to complain to Chrome about how when I refresh/resend my info on the SW, instead of being able to press enter to allow it to resubmit my search, I have to manually click 'ok' with my mouse. vw1282 wrote:
Make another account That's a good idea, but naah, I won't do that, I'll just keep pestering them until they let me, and you KNOW I will Here's another ItemDB question for anyone who uses it. Roothless Action Figure Do prices REALLY swing that far back and forth on items like this? I mean, it doesn't really look like there is any scamming going on, the items that are priced like that are easy to find a real current price for usually, etc etc, but when I see something like: Plus there are no 'pricing guidelines' for the public (other than 'Average of the lowest prices you see')... I'd complain there about it, but I don't have a forums account. If they integrate the form accounts with the web site accounts I'll think about it, until then? Nahh... Also, sometimes to speed things up, I price a LITTLE wrong, just to skip the review process. Old price 150K, new price 60K? I'll price it at 75K so it isn't flagged for review, but it's a heck of a lot closer to the current price immediately 2 things about the IDB i find amusing... I "suggested"... that to make the prices more realistic/up to date... you should be able to sort items by the date they were priced... shouldnt be so hard to add that feature... should it? LOL! That way, if you get bored, you can look for items that havnt been priced in AGES... maybe find some deals? I dunno. But no - they're not interested. Second "suggestion" I made, was that they could possibly make the IDB compatible with neomallers... so that if I want to buy a whole set of books, lets say faerie books, i can copy the page, and enter it, as if it were my shop front... they could just add a button that spits the info they already have, in a format like the shop fronts... ...do those people even PLAY neo?? -------
I've put in suggestions too, or reported bugs. I wonder if it's 2 totally different groups answering, I get 'Thanks, fixed it' for error reports on JN articles, but usually trite responses to anything to the ItemDB. Suggestions I've sent to the ItemDB, and the responses (that I remember): 1) The 'Books to read' utility - Add a 'Books I've read' feature, so it can make a nice formatted list of all the ones your pet has read with the prices, and the Price Summary at the bottom just like it is now, but for what you've read' (it was worded better then Ummm, if I didn't want to do it, I wouldn't have suggested it... and exactly, I like to know how much I've spent on books. So, instead, I submit my pets books, and then submit another pet that hasn't read any books, and compare the two. Therefore, I am using more server resources to do something that would require a SINGLE 'NOT' in the DB query they already have written 2) When sorting by prices, include items that have NO PRICE LISTED at the beginning or end of the query. This could be easily accomplished by making books with no price as "0 NP" instead of "Null". Response: Sorry, we can't do that because when it's changed from Null, it is automatically flagged for review. My response: OK, change the logic so that when it's changed from 0NP it is automatically flagged for review. Problem solved. No response to this. I've also sent in ideas on how to handle pricing of items that 'there aren't enough of for sale for them to feel comfortable changing the price', all pretty logical (though complex, easily enforceable through scripts at the site so people don't need to know those rules, they're handled automatically), but they preferred (at least at the time) to REMOVE PRICING ALTOGETHER on items that they couldn't figure out how to price - and IN SO DOING removing ALL previous pricing information on the item... so even if it was quite relevant (and still could be), there's no way to see that information any more. It is STILL a great resource, but I think they may have a JN Elitist Mentality and don't take kindly to suggestions from 'outsiders'. This may entirely be due to their unnatural and unhealthy reverence for one Dr. Frank Sloth YAY! Cookie!! -------
I deserve a cookie too I was incorrect about no reply on the 'no price' issue, when asking if there is a way to search for items that have not been priced: Quote:
Well, if someone is using it to flood the review system, it's getting flooded with information they need, so that's a GOOD thing

OK, just because I'm already complaining about things, I figured I'd vent about this here too.
ItemDB prices are often way off, probably for good reason sometimes (items that don't get searched often get updated even less). How many items haven't been updated in YEARS!? Yet, since I got premium 2 1/2 weeks ago, I have literally gone through THOUSANDS of items (around 5,400 thus far), and updated THOUSANDS of prices. But the ItemDB crew can't handle the updates (are they still hoping for a userbase that will do it for them? Hello, prices 2+ years out of date, apparently it isn't going to happen).
But what gets me is that, and for a good reasons, people can't update the price 2x in a row (without DB Crew intervention) - so when I want to update prices on many items, especially books, I can't, because I was the last person to update it, 6 months ago.
Also, anyone else use Firefox and ever try to use the SSW, TP or Auction links on an item with an ampersand in it? I want to confirm it passes it as the escape sequence, not as an actual ampersand. I sent that error in, and got back 'No, it works fine.' Works fine in IE for me, but not FF (across different profiles and computers, but they have most of the same plugins).
I'm in a good mood for complaining. Anyone else got some topics I can go off on?
